5 Favorite Fictional Mothers

This week’s 5 Fandom Friday is “Favorite Fanfictions” – the problem is, we don’t really read fanfictions… which is why we decided to simply pick another 5 Fandom Friday from earlier this year.

And, since we did the Favorite Fictional Fathers post, we thought we’d do the Fictional Mothers one.

Just like with fathers, we’re not going to do mothers rather than moms, because, again, biology does not make a mom.

1. Molly Weasley

She’s the most motherly mom we have ever encountered in any book or movie, and we love her. She is the mom, so of course she’s number one on our list. She loves her children unconditionally, and protects them at all costs – and that includes Harry. I mean, this woman has only ever seen him once at a train station before Ron, George and Fred kidnapped him and brought him to the Burrow, and still she welcomes him without question. She gives this boy who’s never known what a loving home was exactly that, even though the Weasleys are not a rich family and already have 5 kids living under their roof. And we think that that’s what true love and heroism should look like. She’s the perfect mom.

2. Jody Mills

Although Jody’s not exactly Sam and Dean’s mother, she’s still the closest thing they have to one. Jody is one of those characters that’s so cynical and looks kinda pissed-off all the time, yet has such a big heart – despite her own tragic loss of her son and husband. She takes in Alex and Claire without hesitation, altough they’re both what you’d call “troubled teenagers”, and still jumps in to help and/or save Dean and Sam from time to time. We love every single episode with Jody, and we wish they’d bring her in more often, because she’s awesome and has an awesome relationship with the boys.

3. Charlotte Fairchild

She only because a mother by the end of The Infernal Devices, but she’s still the mother-figure for Jem, Will and Tessa, even though, technically, she’s only a couple of years old than they are. She loves them like they were her children, guides them, cares for them and forgives Will on the spot, despite him being a real *sshat to her for years, and isn’t that was moms are supposed to do?

4. Ellen Harvelle

Ellen’s a badass, and a great hunter, and an even bette mom. She tries to keep Jo out of the life for as long as she can, which is what any sane parent should do, and even though she loses touch with her daughter for a while after Jo does start to hunt, she eventually accepts that it’s Jo’s decision, but stays by her side. She also plays mom for Sam and Dean for a bit, which is awesome. And then there’s the fact that she doesn’t even want to imagine a world without her daughter and decides to die with her rather than live on without her, which is tragic (and many tears were shed), but still beautiful in a sad kind of way. So yeah, Ellen’s definitely one of our favorite fictional moms.

5. Melissa McCall

Now that Frodo’s finally watching Teen Wolf too, we can include Mrs. McCall. The only reason Sheriff Stilinski wasn’t on the dad list was because Frodo didn’t know the show back then. Melissa McCall is such a great mom, and we love her relationship with both Scott and Stiles – and the Sheriff as well. She’s kind and loving and accepting, and that’s pretty much what any great mom should be like.

  1. I love this! I was thinking of skipping this week since I don’t really read fanfic, but I like the idea of pulling from an earlier prompt! Molly Weasley really is the ultimate mama. She’d be number one on my list of fictional moms too:)
