5 Fictional Pets We’d Like To Adopt

This weeks 5 Fandom Friday had us wrecking our minds quite a bit. There’s only so many stories where the pets play that great a role. But we did it! So here we go:

1. Hedwig

Apart from the fact that she’s an owl, beautiful, and delivers your mail for you, she’s also a very loyal pet. She’s awesome, and we would totally sneak into the Dursley’s home and steal her from Harry before she gets killed. Most senseless death ever.

2. Saphira

We do realize that she’s not exactly a pet, but let’s just ignore that for a minute. She’s a goddamn dragon! Who wouldn’t want a dragon as a loyal companion and friend, whom you also share a telepathic bond with? She is just awesome. Fire-breathing, flying, saphire blue awesomeness, always at Eragon’s side, and always a friend to him.  I don’t even know why I need to give further explanation. She’s a (blue, which is awesome) dragon. We want one. (But a nice one, please. No Smaug or Hungarian Horntail, no thank you.)

3. Fawkes

We’re almost done with the Harry Potter pets, promise. But Fawkes had to be on this list. I mean, come on, he’s a freaking Phoenix! How awesome is that? He never dies, he’s beautiful, his tears have magical healing powers, and he was so loyal to Dumbledore that he left after he died.

4. Shadowfax

Not sure he actually counts as a pet; technically, he’s free and more of a friend to Gandalf than a servant. So we wouldn’t want to imprison him to keep him as a pet-horse, but we would love to have him as a loyal friend.  He’s a beautiful horse, after all, and, like I said, a very loyal friend.

5. Church

He’s on here simply because he’s such a fun character in The Infernal Devices as well as The Mortal Instruments. He only listens to Jem, which is cute, but sometimes still helps the other inhabitants of the Institute. We also love that Jem and Tessa took him with them to follow Emma, so maybe he’ll be back in The Dark Artifices. He’s one of those things/people tying all of Cassandra Clare’s books together, and that’s awesome.

P.S.: Happy Birthday Harry Potter & J.K. Rowling!

  1. Awesome list, but I’m especially loving that you included Church! He’s an awesome character in both series, and I’m crazy about cats so I can’t believe I didn’t think of him! Such a grouch, but I love him<3
