There was a new trailer for the Scorch Trials movie on Friday, and because we’re excited for this movie and only now found the time to talk about the trailer, here we are. Talking about the trailer.
It’s pretty intense, for starters, what with the music and the general tone of the trailer. We don’t get much when it comes to the plot, except for what we – kinda – already knew: the boys and Teresa end up in a facility after getting out of the Maze, where they discover they were not the only Maze Trial done by W.I.C.K.E.D., only to then discover that they never really escaped W.I.C.K.E.D. So now they have to go out into the real world, or at least what’s left of it, known as the Scorch (and the images really show us why it’s called the “Scorch” and not “pretty-sandy-place”. There’s not much left but the sun burning in the sky), to try and save themselves. And that’s the plot, as far as we know.
There’s a lot of new faces in the trailer, and some new information as well. We have some flashbacks to Thomas’ past which he seems to start to remember, so maybe we’re going to get a few answers as to why those kids were chosen and put in the Maze. We also see what the people infected by the Flare look like. Zombies. They look like zombies. Although I’m pretty sure those are just the most extreme cases, it’s pretty disturbing – I wouldn’t want to be chased by someone like that, ever.
And that’s about all we get. Couple of new faces, higher stakes, and a lot more questions that we really hope they’re gonna answer in the movie. We want to know who or what W.I.C.K.E.D. is, what they want with these kids, why Thomas is so important – and those are certainly not the only questions we have. The fact that this trailer rises these questions means the trailer’s doing its job, I guess. It’s a good trailer. So I’m really looking forward to this movie, because I enjoyed the sh*t out of the book and I’d love to see what they did with it, especially because I really like The Maze Runner.
